[2/27, 9:12 AM] MAKE YOURSELF RELEVANT IN NIGERIA, VOTE APC…NDI OKIGWE TOLD
The people of Imo North Senatorial zone have been urged to maximize the opportunity of producing the first and only All Progressive Congress APC, senator of the southeast region, to develop zone and improve their political and business pursuit, which will in turn be beneficial not only to their zone, but to the state and southeast region.
The people were also cautioned not to join opposition politics, as been suggested by the opposition or see themselves as marginalized people but look inward and devise means of making themselves relevant, in order to, participate significantly in the mainstream politics of the country, stressing that a people could only be marginalized if they fail to take advantage of opportunities provided by God to elevate them.
According to the group, who insisted that the Igbo nation has experienced a lot of political and economic turbulence, due to its inability to elect an APC senator of Southeast extraction, who will naturally become a member of various APC caucuses and decision making bodies in the country, stressing that their call on Okigwe people to deliver the APC candidate, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, in the forthcoming Okigwe senatorial rerun elections, was in a bid to avoid the repetition of the mistake of the past.
This charge was given by Dr Ogemdi Ukaoha, who is the president of Ndi Igbo Advancement Forum (NIAF), through a communique delivered on behalf of its members, after an emergency meeting, held in Enugu yesterday.
Dr Ogemdi, who is also an Enugu state opinion leader, while pointing out that the voting arrangements of Ndi Igbo in the 2015 senatorial and presidential elections was skewed by ethnic and religious bias, maintained that the outcome of those sentiments has turned around to become the highest catastrophe of Igbo politics in recent times.
Reacting to the argument of the People’s Democratic Party and its candidate, that the 8th senate has already been constituted and as such, principle and committee Chairmanship positions has already been distributed to senators who were part of its formation, Dr Ogemdi said, electing an APC senator for Ndi Igbo, is beyond Chairmanship of a committee or senator Ekweremadu’s position as Deputy senate President, explaining that, as it stands, no senator of Igbo descent, including the Deputy senate president, is a member of various caucuses of the APC or decision making organs of the APC led administration.
He described those peddling such deceit as politicians who were only interested in their partisan and personal gains instead of the collective interest of the people, as well those who refused using their positions to push for the development of the zone or attract or ginger the development of Okigwe zone and the entire southeast in the past 8 years that they have called the shots in Nigeria.
He further advised Ndi Okigwe to give all the necessary support to the present administration in the country, led by President Buhari, to succeed, by voting APC and to shun all devised tendencies from any group of people who are seeking personal of partisan agenda, stating that Ndi Okigwe stands to benefit from the present administration more than the previous administration.
[2/27, 9:12 AM] these are wonderful facts but the problem here is if Igbos will accept to depart from 'politics of stomach infrastructure'. Will Igbos accept to leave politics of selfish interest? Igbo enwe Eze. I realized that the Igbo race love crying like the maltreated and defeated race. tufiakwa. The South West or North will never allow this opportunity to elude them. If I am to say, I will advice some of the South Eastern Leaders both those elected on the platform of APC, PDP and even APGA to invite RT Hon Ben Uwajimogu to a round table discussion, give him the support, tell him the task before him and then advice PDP Candidate to slow down for the interest of the people of the South East. After which the South East can jointly push for their right at the Center. I wish I have all the powers to compel my people to do the right thing. Other regions are watching us. They will laugh at us if we get it wrong once again. God is watching us. He may not show mercy if we get it wrong again because he has given us opportunities. Please my people " ebe nwa n'ebe akwa na aru aka, ma ikwu nne ya anoghi, ikwu nna ya anoro ya". Please let us apply wisdom here. You can never contribute your opinion in a meeting from outside a discussion room except you are inside. For now no Igbo Senator attend the Ruling Party's Caucus meetings but RT Hon Ben Uwajimogu will do if elected. Let's be wise my People
